Curve Ball

Life threw us a curve ball this week-my hubby had a medical emergency but thankfully is now home and doing fine-He will be on a medical leave from work for awhile but all things considered we feel very lucky.  In the midst of everything I had a big project for work and somehow managed to juggle getting it all done- but I must say I am mentally and physically exhausted.  Here is a peak at the project that my co-worker and I put together for our local art museum's Festival of Trees fundraiser-It is a table setting for a child's birthday party-the title of our table is "It's my party and I'll kawaii if I want to"

It was a happy distraction to everything that was happening this week to work on this but it made for one hectic schedule.

Jam Packed Weekend

So I had a jam packed weekend-here are the highlights

Friday after work went to Barnes and Noble to pick up a foreign newspaper for my Suzi Blu mixed media piece-only Barnes and Noble no longer sell international newspapers
(I feel certain they did at one time) so I headed to an asian market down the street
and found some really cool papers to use called Joss paper and a newspaper-Bingo!
Picked up a salad at Chipotle and drove home-after dinner and taking care of the fur babies I worked on my Suzi Blu angel until maybe 1:30 am-went to bed and woke up to the phone ringing-It was my friend Donna wondering what time we were leaving to go to Renninger's Antique market-I told her I could be ready in about an hour or so-so I hurried and went to the dry cleaners and then came home and took a quick shower and got ready-grabbed the card I got from My Secret Goblin and the latest copy of Cloth Paper Scissors and headed out only to find myself stuck in my neighborhood due to a charity foot race taking place that morning-I finally after going down 4 different streets convinced a police officer that I REALLY needed to get out and he stopped the pedestrians long enough to let me cross-picked up Donna and we headed out-I showed her my adorable card and gave her the magazine to read on the way-there are some super cute fake cupcakes in this issue that we decided we are going to make and made it our mission for the day to find embellishments for them.  We spent the day scouring booth after booth of antiques finding lots of vintage goodies-I found a bunch of great things for the vintage Ephemera Swap I am in-I also found a most enchanting jar filled with goodies that I could not resist-It is a whimsy jar in the true sense!  Then we drove home and I dropped Donna off and headed to the grocery store because I had babysitting duties that night-As soon as I arrived home I had to put on my Mary Poppins hat:)  We watched a lot of Elmo and Mr. Noodle-If you have never seen Mr. Noodle you have to check it out-I stayed up after putting Slaten to bed and worked on a new piece for Suzi's class.  By midnight I was exhausted and went to bed-Got up the next morning-fixed breakfast and then we colored!!! Yay for crayons.  After Slaten was picked up-I started straightening up my studio a bit-It was a disaster!!!-I worked for several hours and at least now I can see my worktable-the rest of the day I took it easy and worked some more on my "party girl"  Here are a few photos I took along the way

"The BiRdS"

I am not sure where the inspiration came for my Halloween Charms for Cyndy's swap-but I ended up using Hitchcock's "The Birds" as the theme.  My "birds" are flying now to CA.  I was going to attach a small bird to the inside of the charm but I was not sure everyone would want something that stuck out quite that much so I just included them in the pkg-That way they can choose if they want to attach them or not.

Rainbow Whimsy

Well I had every intention of completing three of my swaps this weekend but this afternoon I started feeling a bit under the weather so I will have to wrap them up this week.  I did manage to put the finishing touches on my rainbow whimsy jar for Rachel's swap on Two Peas and I will post pictures after I get it in the mail -hopefully tomorrow. What I can share are the pictures I took yesterday of the rainbow whimsy jar I received from Margaret :)-I placed the jar on my windowsill and it looks so cute there I hate to open it-I promise to open it soon and share the colorful contents.  But for now here is my cheerful jar as it so "whimsically" adorns my window-Thanks again Margaret!!!!  I love it!

Feeling Creative

So I've been feeling creative lately to the point that I don't have enough time to complete everything I want to create-but that did not stop me from signing up for the another online workshop-I am super excited to be taking Les Petite Dolls Workshop with Suzi Blu!!!  I spent the day finding cool vintage items for the vintage ephemera swap I am working on and also a couple of items for my Rainbow Whimsy Jar that I am trying to finish this weekend.  Then- I worked on my 25 tags for Cyndy's Halloween Charm and Tag swap on Two Peas.  I have almost finished the 50 charms and now I am about halfway through with the tags-Whew- I am tired just thinking about it all but I am so happy being in a creative mode!!  I am off to work on my tags!

I'll post pics when I can.
